Exploring Zurich with The Dolder Grand
Explore the abundant art, architecture, design, culture (and shopping, of course) at this luxurious city resort and in the fabulous city of Zurich.
Art, Architecture & Design
The Dolder Grand, dating back to 1899, had two wings added to its historic Main Building by renowned London architects Foster + Partners between 2004 and 2008. Ever since, art, architecture and interior design have played a key role for the five-star hotel.
The Dolder Grand has been shaped not least by the people who have stayed there over the decades. Some of these guests have made such a deep impression that one of the presidential suites has later been dedicated to them, including Herbert von Karajan, Gulietta Masina, the Rolling Stones and Alberto Giacometti.
But what else is there to do in Zurich while staying at this luxurious city resort with 4 award-winning restaurants, a spa encompassing 43,056 sqft and an art collection with over 100 renowned pieces?
Exploring Zurich
Zurich boasts an abundance of culture: the opera, the Schauspielhaus and other theatres, cinemas, concert, museums and clubs that keep going until the small hours. If you have some free time on your hands, we highly recommend a visit to the Kunsthaus Zürich, that has the most extensive collection of works by the Swiss sculptor, painter and graphic artist Alberto Giacometti, or a leisurely stroll through the historical Old Town.
Zurich is also a paradise to shop: Every major brand from all over the world can be found on Bahnhofstrasse. A few streets further on, designer boutiques and shops offer select products from local manufacturers. The Dolder Grand Shuttle takes you comfortably to the city center.
Never travel to Zurich without having a look at the city’s event calendar first: the traditional Sechseläuten spring holiday, Zurich Art Weekend and Art Basel in June, the Zurich Film Festival in September, the famous New Year’s fireworks, countless food festivals and many more – every month, Zurich plays host to amazing events that you certainly will not want to miss.
