Vive La France

Besides the obvious reason why we are all going to keep an eye on France this summer (The Olympics), there are three other exciting events worth checking out.

Cannes Film Festival, French Open and Bordeaux Wine Festival

Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) is celebrating its 77th year. The invitation-only event previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from all around the world.

The annual Cannes Film Festival will take place from 14 to 25 May 2024. American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig will serve as jury president for the main competition. French actress Camille Cottin will host the opening and closing ceremonies.

The lineup will include the likes of Oliver Stone, Paul Schrader, Andrea Arnold, and David Cronenberg.

The official poster for the festival will feature a still image from the movie Rhapsody in August by Akira Kurosawa, designed by Hartland Villa.

Now in sports, starting on May 20th, the French Open will be taking place at the Roland-Garros Stadium in Paris. Celebrating its 123rd edition, this will be the second Grand Slam event of 2024.

Here at Four Hundred, we are all patiently waiting to watch Novak Djokovic as the defending champion. He will be contending for a record 25th Grand Slam.

For all those French wine aficionados, the Bordeaux Wine Festival will be having its 14th edition from June 27th - 30th. This event is highly anticipated by vendors, industry clientele and anyone looking to learn more about French wine.

The traditional wine route will take place on the Quays through the villages of the appellations. For 4 days, wine growers and merchants introduce their products during moments of exchange and conviviality.

If you are looking to add some prime Bordeaux wines to your cellar, this is the place for you.
