The Greatest Horse Race of the Year, The Kentucky Derby
At the beginning of May, festivities for the race take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. While opening night is on Saturday, April 27th, the main event of the Kentucky Derby is on Saturday, May 4th. The Kentucky Derby is the longest continually held sporting event in America and is one of the most prestigious horse races in the world.
While the horse race itself is exciting to watch, it is also fun to look around at the fashion on race day. From Derby hats to bright and bold dressing, the Derby brings together a fashionable and southern style to spectators. It is important to note that the dress code varies depending on which section you are viewing the race from, as the higher up you go in the clubhouse, the dressier the attire.
