Equinox Hotel

With the new year upon us, we wanted to spotlight one of our favorite hotels in the city – Equinox Hotel. It mixes the fast-paced urban life with wellness and relaxation. Enjoy the beautiful views from the spacious rooms, workout in their luxurious Equinox Club, take a swim overlooking the Vessel, or take a much-needed break at the spa. We had the opportunity to catch up with General Manager Jeff Rednour to gain a little more insight on this great property!

What makes the Equinox Hotel so special?

I think what we have created here is unique, to have an experience which is pure luxury, but also feels as cool as any boutique or lifestyle hotel. At the same time, our roots are in high performance, and this comes thru in all aspects – from the spa to the sleep experience, to the products in the room, and of course the club. This combination is truly special.

What is your favorite place to have coffee in the morning on property?

No coffee for me - I have a caffeine loaded pre-workout drink at 5:30 am and I am all set! But the lounge area next to the fireplace in Electric Lemon would be an ideal spot in the winter, or the Electric Lemon terrace in the summer for amazing river views from the 24th floor.

How would you describe the hotel in just a few sentences?

The hotel has style, but also substance. Our design is not only sleek and sexy but focused on performance – we consulted sleep scientists to review the mattress and meticulously reviewed other elements in the room like air quality and blackout.

Do you have any secret spots around the hotel? What makes them special?

There is a lounge just off the lobby on the 25th floor that is somewhat hidden.

What makes it different than other properties in NYC?

I think the combination of luxury, lifestyle and high performance sets us apart in NYC (and elsewhere). Another unique feature is our location in Hudson Yards. The shopping, dining, entertainment, and stunning river views make it the city’s most exciting new neighborhood. The feel within Hudson Yards is also quite different as we have our own enclave, which we call the “campus”. I have not seen any setting in the city to compare, with the private driveway and open space, surrounded by breathtaking new skyscrapers.

Where is the postcard shot on property?

There are many! I love the pool deck for a stunning view of the river and the unique angle to view the entire Hudson Yards campus. It’s a great postcard now to capture the barrel saunas with the vessel in the background.

Tell us about the wellness and fitness aspects of the hotel. What’s your favorite spa treatment?

My favorite treatment is cryo-therapy, -150F for three and a half minutes. There are many reported health benefits like muscle recovery and weight loss but you just feel good after. It’s a great energy boost and adrenaline rush!

What do you want Four Hundred members to know about the property?

Perhaps because our Equinox Clubs are so well known, sometimes people think of us as a “gym hotel”. Although our gym is amazing, there is a lot more depth and sophistication to the experience and you can have a fantastic stay without ever setting foot in the gym or consuming a protein shake!

What new things can we expect from the hotel in 2022?

We are constantly evolving and always listening to our guest's feedback. We are seeing more and more leisure guests and we will continue to enhance our offerings for people looking for a safe, luxurious, and regenerative experience.
